A.D.A.M.

This project (France) scored a huge hit in 1995 with the cover of the Cranberries single Zombie. The single featured the voice of Amy. The second single Memories And Dreams was also a very powerful eurodance track. It was produced by Andrea Bellicapelli, Doctor D, Angelo de Robertis, Maurinaz. It included an Adams & Gielen party mix, a Columbo's touch mix, an Orbital test mix, and an XL mix. It was released under the label Dig It France.

B.G. The Prince of Rap

B.G. The Prince of Rap (real name : Bernard Greene, born in Washington DC) belongs to those artists, who, since the beginning of the 90s, has been contributing to the German dance-scene development. His albums The Power Of Rhythm (1991) and The Time Is Now (1994) have brought him the success he deserved. Since 1985 this native American has been living in Germany, and like so many artists before him, the U.S. Army brought him to Europe. After he left the Army, he began to live of his talents of singer and dancer which he had discovered during his scholarship. "Everything began in a Gospelchoir at school", he tells. "My first musical experience was in a Rhythm & Blues style, which still remains my favourite music style".

2 Raff

Tony Cottura took part to this german project as producer and rapper (under the alias TC), together with Rodney Hardisson. Bulent Aris is co-producer. Lyrics were written by Victor Geddles aka Might V. Music was composed by Tony Cottura and Ariel Piaggi.

Me & My

Me & My (real names Susanne Georgi, born July 27, 1976 and Pernille Georgi, born July 24, 1974) are a Danish Eurodance-Bubblegum sister duo signed under the EMI record label. They are best known for their first international hit song "Dub-I-Dub", which has been featured on many compilations including the Dancemania series albums.

Maxx

Maxx was a German Eurodance act who had major, albeit brief, international success in 1994. Without being as comprehensible as some other, the musically pioneering Maxx are contradictory and unconventional. In one year, Maxx had become one of Germany's most successful musical exports in pop history, thanks to these attitudes. The dance floor anthem Get-a-Way ensured that Maxx became a trademark of first-class dance music, almost overnight. It sold more than 400.000 units in Germany alone and reached Gold Status. In whole Europe it sold more than 1.100.000 units. It was # 11 in Israel, # 1 in many French charts and # 5 in UK.

Haddaway

Alexander Nestor Haddaway (born January 9, 1965), better known by his stage name Haddaway, is a Trinidadian-American singer. He is most famous for his worldwide 1993 hit "What Is Love". It rapidly became popular across Europe, reaching number 2 in Germany and in the United Kingdom, where it sold more than 500,000 copies. It later reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. His second single "Life" hit number 2 in Germany, number 6 in the UK and number 41 in the USA; "I Miss You" and "Rock My Heart" were also top 10 smashes across Europe and established him as a successful Eurodance artist. His first LP The Album was also a multi-million seller.

Amber

Amber's real name is Marie-Claire Cremers (Netherlands). As she was in Germany, she met the successful producers Bermann brothers, and they decided to work together. She became the first Euro-NRG artist to be signed directly to a label as a solo artist. They recorded her first single, This Is Your Night, in New York City, and it became a hit worldwide (# 1 in Israel, #14 in the Netherlands, #11 in Australia), but specially in the USA (it reached # 21)

Daddy K

Alain Deproost is Belgian DJ and rapper (he raps in French language) from Bruxelles. He fell in love with hip-hop and started learning breakdance in 1982. In 1985 he became European champion of ground breakdance with his group the "Dynamics three". He started deejaying in 1988 and did appearance in the radio show "Manhattan" on Top FM. He became member of the group BRC (Bruxelles Rap Conventio)

Culture Beat

Culture Beat is a German Eurodance project formed in 1989 by Torsten Fenslau. The act has gone through a number of line-up changes over the years; they achieved the most success whilst fronted by singer Tania Evans and rapper Jay Supreme. Their 1993 single "Mr. Vain" was a No. 1 hit in 11 European countries and the act is thought to have sold more than 10 million records worldwide.

740 Boyz

740 Boyz is an American dance music group founded in 1991, by Winston Rosa aka BIG WIN from New York. BIG WIN worked with several singers including Shaggy and Afrika Bambatta. While working in a studio called INS Studios in New York City, he met Rafael Vargas aka Dose Material. Dose Material has been included in the group 2 In A Room. Their first single, "Shimmy Shake", was successful in France (#2 at the end of 1995 Top 50) and Belgium, while it had a little success on the British, German and U.S. charts. A few months later, the second single "Bump Bump (Booth Shake)" was released ; it peaked at #14 in France.



Garcia

The producer is Alex Christensen (U 96). So it's no surprise that Daisy Dee was featured on the first song Vamonos (which peaked #8 in the German Media Control charts). Vamonos and Te Quiero, Latina (less succesful, only #85 in Germany) were written by Carlos Canzini, Pedro Carrera, Francesco Martinez and Angelo Valdez.
In 1997 the team changed a bit and the songs got a new style : euro-reggae. The songs Bamboleo (#14 in Germany), La Vida Bonita (#51 in Germany), and Kalimba De Luna (#49 in Germany) were written by Giora Schein, Michael Eisele and Boris Buchhaus. The vocals were done by Rod D and Raquel Gomez.



The Outhere Brothers

The Outhere Brothers are a hip-hop duo from Chicago, Illinois, consisting of lyricist Keith "Malik" Mayberry and producer/remixer Lamar (Hula) Mahone. They are primarily known for their hit singles "Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)", "Boom Boom Boom", "Fuk U in the Ass", "La La La Hey Hey", "Pass the Toilet Paper '98", "Eat Me" and "Earthers got Bak".

Mr. President

Trio Mr. President from Bremen (Germany) are Daniela Haak aka Lady Danii, Judith Hildebrandt aka T Seven and Delroy Rennalds aka Lazy Dee. The euro-reggae Coco Jamboo had been at first released in 1996. It eventually became an ultimate hit, probably their most well-known single of all times, immediately jumping high in Dance Charts, and reaching #2 in the German sales charts.

Gillette

Sandra Gillette aka Gillette (born September 16, 1974), who goes by her last name, is a former R&B-Dance artist from the 1990s. She was born in New Jersey and grew up in Chicago and Houston, singing and rapping her way through the 1990s. Sandra Gillette graduated from Romeoville High School. Gillette is best known for her dance hits "Short Dick Man" and "Mr. Personality" from her 1994 album, On the Attack.

Sin With Sebastian

Sin With Sebastian is a moniker used by the (West) German musician/songwriter Sebastian Roth (born in Neustadt an der Weinstraße) currently living and producing in Berlin, Germany. Sin With Sebastian came to prominence in 1995 with the Europe-wide hit, "Shut Up (and Sleep with Me)", which made it up to #1 in Spain, Austria, Finland, and Mexico, and Top 10 in most European countries. In addition it reached #26 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, #44 in the UK Singles Chart and #4 in Finland. The single and following album "Golden Boy" were co-produced by Inga Humpe and Sebastian Roth.

Matrix

On April 1993 RCA records signed Matrix (Germany) for a promo single release only. Can You Feel It, featuring the vocalist Natasha Maimone (who did vocals for Gazebo, and released solo singles such as AM-FM under the name Natasha King) and the rapper Eric Gould, had an unexpected and huge success on radios and clubs, a remixes CD was even released in May 1994.

Love Inc.

Love Inc. was a dance music act from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The group was formed by DJ/remixer/producers Chris Sheppard and Brad Daymond, with Simone Denny on vocals. The Sheppard and Denny combination previously worked together in the Quality Records dance outfit BKS, an acronym using the surname initials of Zambian born Hennie Bekker, Greg Kavanagh and Sheppard. At that time, Daymond was an emerging remixer/writer who had worked with The Nylons.

Nicki French

British dance singer who got her 15 minutes of fame when her cover version of Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' (US No.2) became one of the bestselling singles of the mid nineties. Her follow up material failed to approach the success of her debut single.

Intermission

The name Intermission (Germany)stands for the popular and charismatic singer Lori Glori, who gives the productions a special groove. The relevant Intermission sound comes from the successful producer team Michael Eisele and Dietmar Stehle, in short DMP (Dance Music Production) - who are already wellknown, as well as his company, for successful acts like Captain Hollywood Project and Loft.The vocalist Nina, and the producers Attack II et G. Schein (of Captain Hollywood Project) also took part to Intermission.

Magic Affair

The project Magic Affair (Germany) was created in 1994 with the singer Franca Morgano and the rapper AK Swift (rap) after auditionning 3 rappers and 5 singers. Successful in less than 2 years, Magic Affair climbed from highlight to highlight. They sold numerous of records and they had many chart-triumphs all over the world. The first song Omen III reached number 1 in the German chart six weeks after the being on the market, and top 10 in several other countries. For instance it was # 5 in Israel, # 9 at MTV, and # 18 in UK. The video was on high rotation on TV channels like VIVA, MTV, Disney, DSF and RTL. The single sold gold and platinum in Germany, gold in Austria.

Blizzard

Blizzard is an Italian group of X-energy records. Rumors say it was built around a solo vocalist named Lora Trish. 3 singles were released and all of them were amazing great italo-eurodance. The first single to be released was the very succesful It's Only Love in 1995, featuring Dutch vocalist Sharon May Linn and entered the Top 20 in Spain and Italy.

Dr Alban

Alban Nwapa aka Dr Alban was born on August 26th 1957 in Uguta, Enugu (Nigeria). He grew up listening to Fela Kuti and James Brown. At age 23 Alban moved to Stockholm to live with his uncle (a diplomate) and began studying dentistry in Karolinska Institute. In order to be able to finance his university studies the music-loving medical student started making his own music. During this time Alban worked as a DJ in the well known Stockholm club 'Alphabet Street'. Very quickly his name became widely well known, especially since Alban often sang to the records he put on the turntable as a DJ. DJ René couldn't help but notice him and so the highly intelligent and medical student was discovered. But first Alban finished his studies and even opened his own dentistry practice.







Daze

Daze (Danmark) is a project of Johnny Jam & Delgado (Aqua, Me & My). Daze's career has really turned into a true fairytale for singer Trine Bix and her two partners songwriters/musicians, Sieber and J.T. - the trio which constitutes the turbo-pop-phenomenon Daze. With their first single - Superhero - Daze broke the sound barrier in their home country, where this song quickly became the fastest selling single of 1997 (if you count out Elton John) and reaching attention in the US with a peak as #27 in Billboards Hot Dance Music / Maxi Single Sales and a first week entry in the Hot 100 Singles Chart as #88.

Darkness

Their one and only single is an amazing Eurodance track released with several good remixes (a Nightmare mix, a Midnight remix, a Hell comes to your house remix) and a special remixes CD. It reached # 2 in the Israel dance chart and # 5 in Air-play chart. The song also entered top 10 in Brasil and Russia, top 50 in the German dance chart and also # 22 in the Italian single chart.

Fun Factory

German based Eurodance act produced by Team 33. Active from 1992 to 2003. The first lineup (1992-1997) consisted of: Toni Cottura (Smooth T), Rodney Hardison (Rod D.), Stephan Browarczyk (Steve), Balca "Balja" Tözün (Vocalist) and Marie-Anett Mey. Their success really began with the track "Close To You" in 1994. The following singles "Take Your Chance", "Pain", "I Wanna B With U", and "Celebration" proved to be big club hits as well.





Beat System

Beat System is actually a duo : the rapper is Neal Antone Dyer (Tony T), born in London in 1971, and various female vocalists (Martina Sres, Patty, Jay Babe, G. Fascina...). They released 5 singles, under Intercord label, all of them very succesful in Germany and Western Europe.

Jefferson Project

Canadian eurodance group Jefferson Project released 4 singles during the 90s : Believe In My Dreams, Do It With Me, You Got Me and All I Need Is The Night. The vocals, songwriting and composing were done by Sylvie Desrochers aka Sylvia, the producers were Jean-François "Jefferson" Laprise (who was also on keyboards) and Luc Dubois.

Captain Jack

Franky Gee aka Captain Jack (his real name Francisco Alejandro Gutierrez) was born in Havana, Cuba on February 19th, 1962 - died on October 22th 2005 in Palma, Spain.

Liza, Franky, Udo Niebergall and Richard Witte, the two producers, knew each other from Frankfurt (Germany). Franky remembered from his earlier days during his time in the army that drill commands had something quite specific about it. He talked about it with Udo, and he produced a track with sharp dance beat. That's how everything started. The concept of Captain Jack was quite original : Franky Gee (the rapper) and Liza Da Costa (the first female vocalist) are performing in army uniform. The idea of the hat Franky wears comes from a mix of the caps of the Russian and American armies. The design was inspired of the US-Marines, the color came from the Red Army.

DJ Company

The production team that makes up DJ Company (Germany) is made of Paul Strand, Stefan Benz, and Louis Lasky. The vocalist for DJ Company is January Ordu. Rhythm of love instantly became a huge success in Canada and went straight to the Top 5 on the dance chart.

2 Brothers on the 4th floor

Dutch brothers Bobby and Martin Boer had been experimenting with music for years in a little bedroom. But then in 1990 things really started to happen for them, the single Can't Help Myself was picked up by Dutch radiostations and became an international hit. The composing brothers Bobby and Martin appointed rapper Da Smooth Baron MC and the singers Peggy 'The Duchess' and Gale Robinson to form the 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor stage-act.







Pharao

Pharao were one of Germany's most successful dance act. Its history begins in the end of 1993, when young producer duo, Alexander Hawking and DJ Stevie Steve (Steffen Harning), who both took taken a great interest in the ancient east and Egypt in particular, decided to found a project around it.



The Free

The group was formed in 1994 by Felix J. Gauder and Olaf Roberto Bossi. Together with Charles Simmons, the frontman and singer of The Free, they composed and arranged their music in a high-tech home studio. They spent weeks composing and arranging intro, strophe, bridge and refrain so it should be a perfect rhythm, with groove and melody all in one piece. With meticulous detail work and with great enthusiasm the result was the typical The Free chart- and club compatible Euro-Pop-Housemusic style and also some sentimental Soul-ballads. Members : Charles Simmons (vocals and rap) Ayla J. (vocals), Iris Trevisan (vocals), Virginia Michailoglou (profi dancer), Nejet Yolcu (profi dancer)

MTS

MTS is build around Thomas Henry "Tom" Delaney and 2 girls. The producer of MTS is named Lewis A. Martineé. One album and four singles were released by this group between 1995 and 1997.

D.F.S.

DFS are Ricky Oss & Alex Schiefke from Montreal(Canada). Ou Ee Ou was released in Germany under BMG in 1996, in Belgium under ARS, and in Italy under Union records in 1995. I was produced, mixed and remixed by Jefferson. Me Lay Lo was produced by Jean-Francois Leprise.





Snap!

Snap! is a German eurodance project formed in 1989 by Frankfurt-based producers Michael Münzing and Luca Anzilotti. The act has been through a number of line-up changes over the years, but was most successful when fronted by rapper Turbo B, who performed on the UK number 1 singles "The Power" and "Rhythm Is a Dancer".

La Bouche

La Bouche, featuring Melanie Thornton (Charleston, May 13, 1967 – Bassersdorf, November 24, 2001) and D. Lane McCray Jr., fueled for the 90s with their own brand of pop, dance, and a twist of R&B. Melanie's voice was discovered by the FMP Studios team in Germany, and she was undoubtedly the perfect singer for their long dreamed of project, La Bouche. Thornton died in a plane crash of the Crossair Flight 3597 near Zürich in Switzerland. Thornton had given her final performance in Leipzig and afterwards taken the ill-fated plane from Berlin to Zurich for radio and TV appearances.





Le Click

Blow Up Records had two dance music projects, both vocalised by Melanie Thornton : La Bouche with the raps of Lane McCray Jr. and Le Click, with the Caribbean Michael Romeo. The songs Sweet Dreams and Tonight Is The Night were released practically together, and Melanie would continue in the group which songwould become most successful. Bad luck for Romeo... But Tonight Is The Night is a very good song, and it's still having massive airplay in USA.

Capital Sound

Capital Sound hails out of the National Capital Region of Canada (hence the name, Capital Sound). Nathalie Page took part to the first album, with Katt (real name : Céline Guindon), Baby/Bit Burn (born in Hull, he is the 25 year old songwriter, keyboardist, bassist, and occasional vocalist for the band as well), and Toasted Morgan (who is the band's main producer, songwriter, and keyboardist). Entitled Sussex Drive, it was produced by Michel Picard and Luc Dubois. Rocko T. Bello took part to the lyrics. It did very well in Canada and many singles were released I Can't Wait, Love Comes Around, In The Night, Desire, and Higher Love. On the night of March 26th 1995, they won the Best Dance Recording Juno award for Higher Love. Two of their other songs were also nominated in that same category. Capital Sound also won the Cheer DJ Pool award in the 1995 Top Canadian Dance/Club Artist category. They also walked off with yet another award for Quebec's Record Pool's Best New Dance Group in 94.







First Base

First Base is a German group that perhaps could be the best kept secret in Euro-Energy/Hi-NRG Dance Music today. It was created in 1995. Band members were a female 25 years old vocalist Tina Safrany (known by the stage name of Victoria) and rapper called MC Flash. Behind the group is band's fantastic producer, Mike Wonder AKA 'DJ Wondermike' who's credits include remixes for various artists including No Mercy.

New System

New System (Italy) released four singles between 94-99. The first video feature a well known Dance TV show from the 90s in Québec : "Bouge de là" (Move from there)

DJ BoBo

Peter René Cipiriano Baumann aka DJ BoBo (born January 5, 1968) is a successful Swiss singer, songwriter, dancer and music producer. DJ BoBo has sold 14 million records worldwide and has released 10 studio albums as well as a few compilation albums which have included his previous hits in a reworked format. He has also released as many as 34 singles to date, some of which have charted quite high, not only in German speaking countries, but also in other European territories.











Sash!

Sascha Lappessen aka Sash! (10 June 1970, Nettetal, Germany) is a German DJ / producer team who works in the recording studio with Ralf Kappmeier and Thomas "Alisson" Lüdke. They have sold over 18 million albums worldwide and earned more than 65 Gold and Platinum awards.






Robert Miles

Roberto Concina aka Robert Miles (November 3, 1969, in Fleurier) is an Italian record producer, composer, musician and DJ in electronica and alternative music.

Masterboy

Masterboy is a German eurodance group with notable success in Europe, Asia, Oceania and South America in the mid-1990s. They are one of the most representative group for 90's "high energy" eurodance phenomenon, when this genre crossed over from dance clubs to the pop music arena. Famous songs by Masterboy include "Anybody", "Everybody Needs Somebody", "I Got To Give It Up", "Feel The Heat Of The Night" and "Is This The Love". In November 2010, Masterboy announced that they are coming back. The group is currently working on their comeback single and on a new album.










Real McCoy

Real McCoy, originally known as M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy, is a German band, best known for their 1993/1994 singles "Another Night" and "Run Away", which were both #1 singles in Australia and reached the Top 10 hits in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Loft

Loft stands for 'Live Our Fathers' Teaching'. The members are the Jamaican rappers Courtney Dean St Patrick Williams and Richard Wayne Williams, aka Ranking Richie, and various vocalists, including Lori Glori Gina Mohammed, Sandra Steinborn and Kim Sanders. Produced by DMP (Michael Eisele and Dietmar Stehle), Loft makes a very upbeat sound, varying from eurodance to what is called euro-reggae






Ice Mc

Ian Campbell aka Ice Mc. (22nd March 1965, Nottingham, England) He grew up in the area of Nottingham called Hyson Green (sounds like 'Ice n'Green'). His parents had moved there from Jamaica in the 50's along with a large number of their countrymen. They continued to speak their own dialect 'Jamaican Patua'. This it the dialect Ian always used for this rap parts.





Love message

Collective album produced by Masterboy to help the research against AIDS. There are songs of DJ Bobo, E-Rotic, Fun Factory, Mr President, Scooter, U96 and Worlds Apart, and a collective title Love Message, written by Masterboy and released under the project name of Love Message.

Activate

The group was established in the year 1993 by 4 German producers and songwriters who called themselves the 'A-TEAM' : Thomas Detert, Mike Griesheimer, Nicole Wetzel and Manfred Poppe.
The group is a trio : 2 rappers (Mike and Thomas themselves) and several female singers : Nicole Wetzel, Rachel Rack, Nanni Zagar, Helen Smith. Their first single to be released was Let The Rhythm Take Control in 1994. It featured the voice of Nicole Wetzel.



K' Da Cruz

Behind K'Da Cruz stand the producers and composers Bernd Schoeler and Alexis Schaar. The team also includes the rapper Terry W. Cromwell. Their singles were released by Polydor. The first single New High Energy was released in 1993. It was # 6 in Israel.

Afrika Bambaataa

Kevin Donovan aka Afrika Bambaataa Aasim (April 10, 1960, NY, USA). He later changed his name to Afrika Bambaataa Aasim, after a nineteenth century Zulu chief.

Lalene

Lalene aka Annerly Gordon (Italy) The single was recorded at Labelle studio, produced by Larry Pignagnoli, arranged and programmed by Davide Riva, engineered and mixed by Davide Riva and Larry Pignagnoli, mastered by A. Baglio. DJ Benny contributed as musical advisor.

Lia

Private Fantasy was released in 1995 under Numuzik Inc in Canada, licensed under the label Union Records. The single contained an Extended Union Remix, Union Radio Mix, a Premier Club Mix and Hula Loop Mix. It was written and composed by M. Thornhill, Gino Olivieri and Ivan Pavlin

Solina

Isabelle Plante aka Solina is a female vocalist that usually performs solo. Her first singles were the Eurodance-styled I Wanna Know and Show Me Love Tonight, both released in 1994, which brought her a lot of success. The follow-up was Breakout, another very good Eurodance track.

Nadia Robichaud aka Nadia is a canadian singer. Her music has been signed in many countries such as Japan, Asia, Poland, Romania, Mexico, USA, Portugal and the Middle East. Her album Kiss Of Destiny has been released in both Japan and Russia while her singles have been on more than 250 000 albums.



Julia

Julie Low aka Julia was born and raised in Curran (East of Ottawa, Canada). In the 90s, she teamed with the producers Marc Deslauriers, Marc-André Dubois and Louis St-Laurent. Her solo singles were released on Numuzik. She has recorded songs for Chris Sheppard and MC Mario Canada's favourite DJ’s and was mentioned in the Canadian Juno Awards program

Cartouche

Cartouche is a Belgium group consisted of Myrelle Tholen, Jean-Paul Visser and Georgia Jones.

Alexia

Alexia, (born Alessia Aquilani 19 May 1967), is an Italian singer. Before recording in Italian in the 2000s, she made records in English in the late 1990s. Many of those were international hits. Before her solo career she was the vocalist of Ice Mc.

 







J.K.

Marta Simlat, known as J.K. (born 2 January 1970 in Kraków, Poland) is a former model turned Eurodance artist who enjoyed success in the mid to late 90s.

 

Jacynthe

Jacynthe Millette-Bilodeau (born September 13, 1979) is a Canadian pop singer who records as Jacynthe. She records material in English, French and Italian, and has had Top 40 hits on both the anglophone and francophone pop charts in Canada.

Emjay

Marie-Josée Riel (born December 9, 1974) is a dance artist of French-Canadian descent. She originates from Rockland, just outside Ottawa and had a series of dance hits throughout the 1990s. Her style of dance music was Eurodance, typically with a high-energy techno beat and passionate female vocals. Her music was well-known to Canadian dance music fans.
